I've not dealt with that one...
Roberts rule #110:
When a developer comes recommending a "leading candidate" database... run...run...run... or, if you are having a bad day: slash, burn, and take the developer to karate class and teach him about the sparing ring...
They never have to manage the things with volume or high concurrency, they never have to recover them, and they never ever ever understand what ACID is all about. Only too late do they understand the concept of writers blocking readers, read-consistency and what a beautiful thing instance recovery really is.
I think they are followers of Baltar myself...

Subject: Object Oriented Databases
We are building a web application that will be accessing a database cache for its queries. Essentially, the system of record will be polled periodically and any updates will be applied to the cache database. One of the developers is pushing for an Object Oriented Database. Since we would be querying text data or xml I am not sure what it really buys us.
His leading candidate is Intersystem Cache Database. What little I have been able to find does not sound too promising. Does anyone have any hands on experience with it?
