RE: ORA-00345: redo log write error block

I will hazard to guess your backup is trying to backup open database files with a file copy backup. If so, its a mostly a waste of time. Whilst in a desperate situation you can recover data from the database that you can reconstruct you would need to extract that data from the old database and reload it to a new database to remain supported. Oracle wont support a database running after such a recovery, only assist you through the recovery.
Make sure the oracle datafiles, controlfiles, and redo logs are excluded from virus scanning and file copy type backups unless you are doing a file copy of a shutdown database. In this case you were not.

This error occured on Windows Server 2003 while the weekly backup (Symantec) was running.
Anyone have any ideas why this occurred and as possible work areound?
