I've used it twice in the past year on a SAP database of about 400 gig.

The users complained about slowness, but it was better than the database being down.

The server's storage failed completely (during a backup) shortly thereafter.

An complete recovery was made to another server.

Lesson: If you have to do a block recovery, best to find out exactly why it is needed.
