Once I migrated 300+gigs database from SUN (8i) to HP-UX (9i). These are the steps that I did:  

1. Pre-create the HP-UX database with needed users, roles and datafiles. Run a full export/import with rows=none to pre-create objects.
2. Multi-exports in SUN (8 concurrent exports).
3. FTP export files to HP-UX
4. Multi-imports in HP-UX
5. Done.

Paula,  

A quick Google search reveals that SPARC is big-endian while Intel is little-endian. I think you're going to have to pick a migration method that doesn't involve cloning the data files. Besides, even if it worked, would you be confident that some issue wouldn't come back to haunt you in the future?
