On otn.oracle.com there is a high availability section - MAA - it contains quite a few documents that should help you out on this. With respect to downtime, we converted a 9i db to RAC - using a similar method documented in the maa docs. Which allowed us to perform the task in under an hour. The db was 1.3 TB and it also had to be migrated to a new SAN. ----- Original Message ---- From: VIVEK_SHARMA <VIVEK_SHARMA@infosys.com> To: oracle-l@freelists.org Sent: Wednesday, 18 April, 2007 12:09:37 PM Subject: Conversion of a 3 TB NON-RAC Database To "ASM" - RAC in 10gR2 ? <!-- /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {margin:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman";} a:link, span.MsoHyperlink {color:blue;text-decoration:underline;} a:visited, span.MsoHyperlinkFollowed {color:purple;text-decoration:underline;} span.EmailStyle17 {font-family:Arial;color:windowtext;} _filtered {margin:1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25in;} div.Section1 {} --> Folks What could be the approach to Convert a Large 3 TB NON-RAC Production Database with Datafiles existing on cooked/Mounted Filesystem (UFS) to a 3 instance RAC using “ASM”?
