How about disparador - could be a synonym for gatillo.

The thing abouut Spanish is it could be difficult to translate a colloquial word like trigger. Maybe the pharse "disparador del código del programa" would work.

I have a friend who is trying to translate some documentation into Spanish. He isn't sure of the Spanish word for TRIGGER. When talking about guns, GATILLO is the word. Is that used in the database/programming world or is there another?
