Or, better yet (if you really need something other than Oracle) - go
with PostgreSQL.

Subject: Re: Slightly OT - Mysql Training
Having suffered greatly at the hands of this product in my distant past; grab the html manual off the mysql website and wade thru it; there are fairly comprehensive examples and posts on virtually every page in the manual. Otherwise google for tutorials - I'm not current in this area having been released from the pita of working with this (very) overrated contraption (imho of course).
If you're an Oracle DBA, which you are, I think you'll be up and running much faster than you suspect. The product is really simplistic and easy to use once you're accustomed to it's quirks. Kinda like moving back to an older DB2 or even Sybase environment.
I know why Charles is smiling inward, same here.
Good luck.

I had to chuckle at this one. I am guessing it is not merely an issue of "time" per se. =)
mySql is rather ubiquitous in Linux distributions; even Oracle's
own (breakably unbreakable) Enterprise Linux comes shipped with mySql.
And for those that have a little Sybase or old school MS Sql Server
thrown in with their Oracle experience, there are some familiar commands
(thinking of "show").
But if you are dead-set on official training, I am afraid I have no ideas for you.

Does anyone has recommendations for good mysql training
(instructor led will be fine) for a oracle dba? No time to sit down and
experiment and learn by myself. Preferable in the NE region (or Hawaii).
