"Expert One-on-One: Oracle" by Thomas Kyte speaks about Intermedia (aka Oracle Text) and of course, it covers it very very well (the basics and some "advanced" stuff as well).

It covers it the way I like things to be covered - by showing how it is implemented internally, and of course, with examples.

If you don't own it, you can find the electronic copy of that book as the companion CD of "Expert Oracle Database Architecture", same Author, Apress.
