You could always check out Oracle's own OSwatcher (301137.1) which is support friendly....

For more assistance with Unix monitoring, try Craig A. Shallahamer's OSM toolkit http://resources.orapub.com/category_s/16.htm - even if you only borrow ideas from it, it's worth every penny you pay (it's free, of course).
