Don,

I would question that description of ASM but think about the following: You said that you are going to have your storage already striped and mirrored with RAID 1+0 so your storage box does already what ASM can do.

Combining ASM striping with SAN striping be careful - if you are unlucky enough this combination might lead your ASM to "unstripe" what SAN striped already. The best for ASM would be to make LUNs presented as one mirrored disk (two disks raid 1 if you wish).
