Like I said initially, we haven't seen any real problems arise from the high pinned pages either - I was just concerned that maybe it was a bug with Oracle's SGA not being released after instance restarts, but that doesn't appear to be the case based on all I've seen since then. I'm still curious to know what else is pinning so much memory since I couldn't account for it based on the output of "vmstat -P -t 200 -p", which lists the memory usage of the top 200 processes sorted by pinned page count, but I guess I'll just let it go for now - bigger fish to fry.
