Two days ago my SQL*Developer told me that there is an update available on
Metalink. I downloaded the update and ever since my SQL*Developer is reporting
the following:
/home/mgogala/sqldeveloper/jdev/extensions/oracle.dmt.dm4j.extension.codegenerator.10.1.3.jar
Warning(12,55): Classpath entry /home/mgogala/sqldeveloper/jdev/extensions/..\..\odmr\jlib\odminer.jar not found. Warning(13,51): Classpath entry /home/mgogala/sqldeveloper/jdev/extensions/..\..\odmr\jlib\xdb.jar not found. Warning(14,51): Classpath entry /home/mgogala/sqldeveloper/jdev/extensions/..\..\odmr\jlib\jdm.jar not found. Warning(15,56): Classpath entry /home/mgogala/sqldeveloper/jdev/extensions/..\..\odmr\jlib\ojdm_api.jar not found. Warning(16,67): Classpath entry /home/mgogala/sqldeveloper/jdev/extensions/..\..\odmr\doc\odminer_codegen_help.jar not found.
The version of Windows that I use is not very good with "\" as a path component separator. For some strange reason, it prefers "/" instead. That is very strange for an operating system to use forward slash as a path separator, instead of backslash. My OS manufacturer is probably to blame and I will direct a fiery letter of displeasure to Mr. Torvalds, as my next step. My question here is how much time will Oracle take to help out us, poor non-Microsoft users? This tool was probably tested in a swamp, by bearded little men in funny hats. I cannot explain such an obvious oversight in any other way. My question to Oracle people following this list is whether testing of your products involves starting them up or not? Why should I entrust your database software with my data when you cannot even get a simple gooey interface to work reasonably well?
