have you checked the MS and Dell support sites?

MS has issues with misreporting Memory for Dell boxes. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=279151

don't get mad, but have you verified the memory that they put in the server?
I've been the victim of taking somebody else's guaarrranteeeeee that the memory was upgraded only to find out that it wasn't. how much ram is in the box?

You might want to check their open manage product and version. I used to have a lot of fun compaq's no-insight whatsoever software and 8.1.7 on win2k.

if you're curious about the registry, dump them both and diff them. maybe do it by high level keys to make it easier to sort through.
