Stefan, here is an excerpt from the emagent.trc file. It clearly says that it is looking for listener in port 1521 whereas my listener is running on 1523. I'm not sure how/where to tell the agent that my listener is running on 1523.
SQL = "
OCIServerAttach"...
LOGIN = dbsnmp/<PW>@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=ustlstpu502)(PORT=1521))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=VMP1)))

Luca , i don't have directory named <hostname_domainname>. The targets.xml is at $AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd.
As usual , metalink has asked me for RDA output. I have just uploaded it and waiting for their feedback.
Thanks for your insight guys.
