Maybe it's taking 7 minutes to return the data to your client over the network if it's a lot of data and/or you have a slow network connection. How long does it take if you just spool the output to a file on the server (set term off)?

Could someone please tell me how come CTAS is able to select from query and create a table in 25 sec while just the query alone takes 7 min to execute..
