I prefer RedHat, but not because of performance. Because their support
actually cares about me! We had SuSE a few years ago. We ran into a
problem with the OS on our database server and found there was an issue
with some library (not too sure anymore). We contacted support via
phone, email, indirectly through our scales rep and never heard from
them. When it came time to renew our license, we dumped them.
BTW - We do not have any noticeable issues with OS performance with RedHat.
