One other thing:
You could install a 10g R1 home, patch that with 10.1.0.4 and 10.1.0.4 patch 10 and run a 10.1 listener instead of a 9.2 listener. It uses OS authentication by default.
You could probably even do that with a 10.2 listener, I just haven't been that ambitious with 10g R2 yet.
