We use 10g (R1 and R2) on linux (SLES9) on top of VMWARE ESX.

I can confirm the performance issue (especially regarding I/O).

We decided to use this kind of architecture for development systems only.
In this way we force our developers to optimize the code.

It is even good to be able to set up a testing environment in few hours instead of waiting and installing several servers.

Fabrizio

	Hi!

Is anybody out there running a 10g database on Linux on VMWare
ESX servers?

We are thinking about putting a 10g database on there, but I heard that there are serious issues with VMWare when it comes to I/O throughput.

Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

	Regards,
	Helmut
