If I recall, you don't need a password to start the listener. You do need
one to stop it or get its status.
Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Subject: auto start of listener with pwd
List,
I need to password protect the listener on my Solaris 8 9iRel2 db. If I password protect the listener will the listener auto start upon server reboot when the dbora/dbstart/dbstop scripts are called? Or do I need to supply the password in the above mentioned scripts to stop|start the listener upon startup|shutdown of the server such as:
su - $ORA_OWNER -c "$ORA_HOME/bin/lsnrctl start <password here>"
