 From what I have read:

EQ : SWG : EQ2 : uses Oracle
World of Warcraft : uses Oracle
Dark age of Camelot : uses MySql

There are some others that use MSSQL. I am guessing there are a few that use other solutions too. I read that Dark Age of Camelot said they looked at Oracle, but they couldn't justify the licensing costs.

I have read a thread recently from a DBA of MMOG systems, and he said the biggest factor is the design choices you make. Go figure :)
