Why would you want to reduce control file writes? Are your application waiting on the control file writes? Are your control files diagnosed as disk hot spots? What do you want to achieve by reducing the number of CF writes? Why don't you do something more useful, like achieving the perfect BCHR, for instance. If my memory serves me right, Connor used to have a script which did that.
