I will not call running perl, designed at core on Unix for Unix, a valid testbed for Windows vs Linux performance. :-)
Also keep in mind that a test like that has very little real-world meaning. But hey, I'm not going to defend Windows. I prefer Linux. But I stand by what I said. Performance is not a function of the operating system. The impact that the actual o/s has on performance is negligble when looking at issues such as configuration, software design, implementation and so on.
Anyone that thinks that deploying Oracle on Linux will result in a faster system than deploying Oracle on Windows on the same h/w platform, is sorely mistaken.
