Just a thought. Would 10g grid control be any use, might be a bit overkill? That has an Oracle binary replication option which it supposed to deal with the Inventory correctly, never used it though!

Like David said, look at silent installs.
Maybe put the install files and responses file(s) on an NFS shared filesystem.
