PL/SQL memory usage?

        We have an interesting situation here where there are some fairly big data sets being treated in PL/SQL. Currently performance is lousy, and one of the actions being proposed to programmers is to use PL/SQL memory structures to avoid going to disk each row.

        Another programmer raised the issue of memory usage. While I think it would be a good way to use memory, I was wondering where Oracle would allocate PL/SQL memory structures. I'd guess the DB buffer cache, but I could find no documentation to that effect, nor Google helped me.

        Hints anyone? Thanks a lot in advance!
