Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> performance gains after upgrade solaris 8 to solaris9?
Hi, All,
According to some link like:
http://blogs.sun.com/roller/resources/glennf/fawcett.25kscale.pres.rev1.01.pdf
(the PDF seems gone now but I have saved a copy), using large page in
solaris 9 for ISM gives big performance gains.
We are still using solaris 8 and evaluating solaris 9, and we use pretty big SGA size. I would like to hear from you guys who did OS upgrade from solaris 8 to solaris 9, see : 1. How to verify that large page is used by solaris. 2. What kind of performance gains we get(like CPU usage drop by x%, or user response time reduced by y%, or kernel/user memory drop by z%)?
By the way, on big box with plenty of memory, seems fsflush used a lot of CPU cycle. Any idear to reduce the CPU usage by this kernel process?
Thanks
