He's now asking if anyone knows whether new DBAs just out of training are being hired for junior DBA positions or if even the junior positions require experience these days.

I have no current information on this so hopefully one of you knows what the market is like (we're going to be having massive layoffs in 6 months which is his reason for considering a career shift).

A co-worker is interested in moving from development work to DBA work. I had suggested the Columbia CTA program but apparently that no longer exists.

Can anyone recommend classes in NYC other than the Oracle-provided classes?
