We are managing many ORACLE, SQL Server and perhaps soon open source databases. I am considering the best method to provide proactive capacity analysis to mgt. Due to the various environments we support I am looking at Embarcadero's Capacity Planning tool which stores history, trends and provides reports.

For any of you managing multiple databases and responding to mgt. desire to be able to manage the environments - have you considered the "Make or Buy" decision?

I just don't want to necessarily write this for the multiple environments we support. I am also wondering if there are any open-source solutions out there.
