SQL*Loader-128: unable to begin a session : ORA-12705: invalid or unknown NLS parameter value specified

I have just migrated an application from test to prod. On the prod machine I get the following error from sqlldr

SQL*Loader-128: unable to begin a session : ORA-12705: invalid or unknown NLS parameter value specified

It works fine on the test box.

I do not specify any NLS parameters in the script that is running sqlldr, nor do I do any alter session statements

Anyone any ideas?
