Not sure that many people are aware of the database
called TimesTen.
Oracle aquires them (not sure is it the same as bought them).

I used to work with TimesTen and it looks that Oracle made a crazy good move with this.
TimesTen is going to give Oracle exactly what they do not have, as TimesTen is much faster in the direct mode (directly attached shared memory) and can be used for the middle tier caching, client side fast lookups, replacement for Oracle Lite and small businesses, combining into the better HA with RAC, or who knows what.
