This is working, but updates to the 9.2 database are very slow. Any ideas?

Thanks!

In my case my 9.2 db needed access to 7.3.4 objects, so I put the 7.3.4 tables into the 8.1.7. database and then just pointed synonyms on both sides to them. You can't create views in the middle db that point to 7.3.4 objects, because the dblink will still complain. Materialized views would work if your data is relatively static.

Do you mean tables in the 8.1.7 database or do you mean synonyms? I want the live data fro 9.2.

Ron

I created a middle 8.1.7 database, created the tables in the middle db, and then created public synonyms to point to them. Works like a charm.

We have several applications still on Oracle 7.3.4 that net to talk to our upgraded Oracle Financials on 9.2. The applications use Dblinks which do not work between 7.3 and 9.2. Has anyone run across this problem and cam up with a solution?

Thanks!
Ron Smith
