OT - XP, jinit and Oracle apps

I know this is a dba list, but I am getting no where with Metastink on this after 5 days.

So here goes:

Oracle 11.5.9 apps works just fine on our windows 2000 machines.

No go on XP sp2 using either foxfire or ie.

Have deleted jinit and reinstalled it
Have 1.4.2_03 and 1.5.0 JVM installed
Have security on low
Have turned off popup blockers
Have added my internet address to the list of trusted sites.

I can log in, the jinitiator run, I select the priviledge sysadmin, select define user, it says applet started, then I briefly see a message, popup blocked, goes back to applet started and just hanges there.

Any body have any ideas or suggestions?
