STATSPAK Question

I am finally getting around to using this utility. I have a 200+gb DW on w2k. My question is there a good interval to use initialy? i know doc id 149121.1 suggests one hour intervals but, since I am still a Newbie, Jr. whatever, I want to identify as much as possible to begin with, trouble shoot, fix, etc... then move my interval out. is this a good thing to do? bad? is there a way outside of AT to schedule this so, durrng the day I use a 1hour interval, and durring nightly loads i use say a 15min or less interval?
