I have had this problem (trying to install an older package) I believe you need
to specify an extra command line switch for rpm of :-

--replace

Hope that helps, if not let me know as we've definitely overcome this one.

 Hi Rac gurus
I have a redhat 2.4.21-20.EL installed on a i684 machine and trying to configure the firewire drive for 10g rac
when i try to install the firewire kernel to this operating system it is failing as
[root_at_linuxtest1 root]# rpm -ivh
kernel-2.4.21-15.ELorafw1.i686.rpm
Preparing...

########################################### [100%]

package kernel-2.4.21-20.EL (which is newer than kernel-2.4.21-15.ELorafw1) is already installed

I already have a 2.1 advanced server on another partition with 9.2 rac running on it, This operating system along with the firewire is running fine. i dont know how to get this solved,Can some please let me know how to get this resolved
Any help will be greatly appreciated
