How if at all do people do an equivalent of source control for off the
shelf apps. What I mean is, given an application, or application suite
with say a client, an app server, a web site etc how do folk ensure
that they have a consistent reliable build between test and prod? The
source code is obviously not available since this is a COTS app
scenario.
