We don't actually have a performance *problem*=2E Our response times are=20= within our SLA=2E The only *problem* I have is a manager who budgetted for=20= 2 Gb of memory for our production server this year and insists that we=20= somehow use it=2E :) Things are not bad, he just wants them to be better=20= because he spent the money and he wants to see something for it=2E
I will collect some statspack reports during peak periods and post them=2E=20= Maybe someone will see somewhere that the memory could be of use=2E

There are many possible reasons for this=2E=2E=2E
1=2E You did not increase the size of the Oracle Buffer Cache to take
advantage of the new memory=2E
2=2E Your performance problems were already related to excessive logical
IO and adding memory will only add to the problem=2E
3=2E There is a disk/cpu or network bottleneck, no amount of new memory
will solve this=2E
4=2E Hardware isn't good at compensating for poor application design=2E
Why don't you post a few statspack reports someplace when you are having trouble I am sure others will be happy to comment=2E Use 5-10 minute intervals when you are having the problems=2E
