RE: 32-bit linux

Our initial thought was we could combine our current two-tier apps servers for the Oracle Apps by putting all of the test instances on one set of two-node linux boxes.  

However, if we are stuck to a total of 4g, this will not help since in w2k, we are already using 1.3+ G per instance. Or would each oracle process on linux have its own 4g limit meaning we could have several large instances running.

No. It means that you will be stuck with 4GB process limit, of which 2GB will be useless, because it's mapped in the kernel address space (the leading bit differentiates kernel address space from the user address
space). It's twice as good as Win2k and equally as useless

linux.  The Oracle Apps on Linux is only 32-bit.  Does that mean that
