If you arent using tape, you dont need to relink oracle with libobk,
just configure channels to disk.
Dont see why it takes 5 days, rman can be pretty easy.
In my opinion if you need to go over the rman architecture then you shouldnt be using it. Learn how it works and then try to implement it yourself
