We (hopefully) use extended trace (10046) to generate response time profiles
for a focused set of business transactions. The results lead where they
lead. We don't set out with any particular list of events in mind. We just
look at where the time went and go see if we can find a way to shorten the
time without adversely affecting other critical business processes.
There are several excellent books available that will help you make more sense of extended trace data and OWI in particular: 1. Optimizing Oracle Performance, Millsap 2. Oracle Wait Interface: A Practical Guide to Performance Diagnostics & Tuning, Shee
If you need to analyze histograms and how the CBO uses them, take a look at 10053 traces. They provide information about what the CBO is considering in making execution plan choices.

Hi, could you please share which events you use to do a deep optimization when generating traces, out than 10046.
For example which event could be useful to analyze histograms.
Thanks in advance.
