Is there a bitmap index on the table being inserted into?

Original Message ----- We have an application running on Oracle database 8.1.7.4 on sun Solaris 2.8, recently we have some problem with blocking locks one transaction (simple insert statement) blocking all other transactions and waiting for ever, is there any bug related to this issue announced by oracle.
