My understanding is the same number of standby logfile is OK. so if your maxlogfile number is 20, so you should have no problem to setup 10 standby logfile as well as the 10 normal logfile. And ofcourse you can also recreate your controlfile to increase the maxlogfile.

Gents,

I am littled confused with stadnby redo logs requirements in the physical standby database. In oracle documentation, minimum requirement to have one more standby redo log than the primary one, but, in metalink note : 219344.1, its says that at least you need to have same redo logs as on the primary. Therefore, I am very much confused about two different statements. My scinarios is that I have 10 redo logs on my primary and my magloxfile set 20. If I follow the oracle documentation requirement, I need to have 11 standby redo logs which is not possible as my logfile size is 20. I am thinking of droping 1 or 2 redo logs at primary and have one more redo of the standby than primary.

Please help me in this regards.

Best Regards,
