   The first thing to find out is what type of standards they are interested in.

• Table naming standards?
• Physical layout standards?
• Network naming standards?
• Hours when database support is available? You don't want to ask the question directly because your manager may say "everything". The answer then is that it will take a long time. Usually there are some hot-button issues and you'll want to investigate and propose some standards for those areas. Usually the value is in the investigation and decision-making. After that the standards are tossed on a shelf to gather dust.
