Hi, I am a Senior Oracle DBA and am an MBA coach for a senior systems
analyst at out company. Our company is large and although performance is
highly valued, the relational IQ is high on the list as critical factors for
success. The MBA he is doing is not in the computer science area and it a
nice complement to his skills and opens all kinds of doors for unique
positions. I personally think a blend will do you best personally and
professionally. If I were do work at my degree again... (back in early 80's
... I would include a minor in communications..as strange as it may sound).
Great ideas and plans seems to die with out good marketing and
communications lobbying.
Just my observations
Cheers,
Brian Spears
PS. An MBA coach is a newer strategy created at some Schools. The MBA student discusses and bounces ideas off the coach in most of his assignments and projects. Industry has found much success with top level company personnel having coaches.

Hi
MBA has a strong business focus. Since you will possess a technical Masters qualification an MBA=0D would be a great choice. Besides moving up the corporate ladder I think the knowledge gained=0D would be invaluable.=0D
With the MBA you will be able to differentiate yourself and gain a sustainable competitive advantage.

I'm finishing a Masters in Software Engineering in Spring 2005. Then I want to either do a masters in computer science or an MBA. I have met several technical people with MBAs. Do you find the information useful? Has it helped you move up through management?=0D I know some of you run your own companies, do any of you have MBAs? Does it help? With the technical profession in decline, I wanted to diversify my skillset instead of just being technical, which is what a computer science masters would do. I know with government contracting salaries are all about years of experience and degrees. Performance really isn't all that important.=0D Any opinions would be useful.=0D
