Jonathan,
Works fine for me on Solaris8/Oracle 9.2.0.5. What platform/version? What error do you get?

Subject: dropping global temp tables
Sorry if this is the dumb question for the day, but how does one go about dropping the definition for a global temp table? DROP TABLE doesn't do the job for me.
