In a dignified fashion, send a check to RedHat for RHEL 3.0 ES and enjoy a very solid platform which will not cause you a visit from your monthly friend, the MS Security update, with which you can open TARs. I have yet to have to open an iTAR with Oracle on Linux, as someone else has already discovered any ailment I have suffered and the patchset is already there waiting for me on metalink.
Just install the base release for RHEL 3.0 ES, no need for AS, update non-kernel packages as you see fit. install legacy development.
Its all covered at http://www.puschitz.com.
enjoy.
