We probably always have it set.
We've definitely used large SAS/SARS in lots of DBs.

If you try to set sort_area_size to something greater than 1GB, you'll need
to set hash_area_size first. It doesn't matter what you set it to (within
reason), but if you don't set it to something, then when you set
sort_area_size, hash_area_size will automatically be set to twice that, and
if that means it's over 2GB you'll get an error.
