Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> Scripting Client Upgrades
We're making plans to upgrade the Oracle client on our user's PCs
(running Win 2000). I spent several days trying to deinstall the
current client (8.1.6) via a script with the Oracle Installer. After
encountering several issues and bugs, I've decided to try writing a
script that will remove the client "the hard way" (see note 124353.1).
The script will remove the Oracle Home and delete values from the
registry, then it will install the newer client (probably the 10g
instant client). Does anybody have experience upgrading their clients
this way (scripting the manual method described in the note) or do most
folks use the Oracle installer? Just checking to see if I'm out in left
field on this one.
Thanks,
Jay
