Thanks Paul, Ron and Graeme for the replies.

Paul - yes it does use DIRECT mode SQL*LDR load, I will remove the DIRECT for the next load and see if it grabs any new extents.

Ron - I am going to move the database to a new server in a few months so I will be re-creating the table.

Graeme - Partitioning is definitely the long term solution, especially since this is a year based fact table. I will be implementing this when I migrate the database.
