HP-UX, AIX, True64 for a while. Win2k will work, but is inherently
inefficient with respect to the scheduler which is a problem for Oracle.
Dollar for dollar you will need more hardware to run a given workload on
Windows vs. Unix (including Linux)
BTW, although we use Linux, we depend on vendors to add the features to the kernel to help run Oracle and they are getting pretty reasonable at it. I read the source, but I wouldn't have to in order to use it in production.

The reason to use WIN2K is that we have trust in windows2k (odd=3F)
because we
have been using it for 5 years now , it hasnt given us any significant
problems. We are really skeptic about Linux (open source=3F we dont have
resources and need to read,alter and extend its open source code) and
Solaris promises no future. What else is available except windows.
