In addition to Pete's comments about ISV support - which I would expect to be a major issue for many shops right at the moment - I'd add concern about Oracle support. What I mean there is how many of the problems that you see or encounter on 10g will they have seen previously (I see a comment about RAC has been made along these lines) - this emphatically isn't a criticism of support, just a suggestion that being one of the first to discover new issues can make resolution of those issues slower.
I also like to wait for patchsets and not take .0 releases I have
demos of 'features' that result in loss of service in 8170,9010 and
920 :( They got patched. I bet there is a 1010 demo waiting to be
found as well.
