My $1 (US, not EURO): I have several schedulers on my system. The one that I use the most is called "cron". DBMS_SCHEDULER is a complicated subsystem which can be used to schedule OS jobs and make the mess with crontabs even more horrendous.

If I only need to schedule PL/SQL procedures, like DBMS_STATS, then DBMS_JOBS is completely sufficient. In other words, I prefer the devil I know to the one that can cause unforeseen ORA-0600.
